The focus of this project is to provide a fun and educational playtime for children and youth in the temporary shelter. These children, who through no fault of their own, have been removed from their homes and placed in temporary shelter due to parental neglect or abuse. Volunteers organize literacy-based activities such as reading, art, and literacy based games as well as planning for and serving a snack. The JL volunteers also serve as role models for children who are in need of positive and encouraging interaction.
