Little Black Dress Initiative

Monday, March 6, 2023 - Friday, March 10, 2023

Can one little black outfit, worn for five days, create awareness about issues that affect others for a lifetime? The Provisional class of Junior League of Oklahoma City says YES!

Many of us take for granted our ability to wake up and choose what we would like to wear, eat, buy and do daily. Not everyone is afforded that luxury.

The Little Black Dress Initiative (#LBDI) is a week-long social media-driven campaign to raise awareness of and funds to support JLOC’s community projects that focus on health and wellness in our community.

During this initiative, our Provisional Members and friends will wear the same black dress or outfit for five consecutive days to illustrate the restrictions poverty places on choices, opportunities and access to resources. When individuals and families worry about paying bills, meeting their basic needs and taking care of their overall wellbeing often suffers.

We are asking our friends, family and community to please stand with us from April 1-5, 2024 as we work to address poverty-related gaps in access to wellness resources in our community. You can support our LBDI by donating to JLOC. Funds raised will be used to support our community projects and trainings focused on health and wellbeing.

We invite you to follow along on social media and to click to help us improve the quality of life for our neighbors in our community. YOU can make a difference!
