Elementary Health

Partnering with the Oklahoma City Public Schools, Junior League members help to promote a healthy lifestyle to school-aged children in grades pre-K to fifth grade. Volunteers are responsible for assessing, planning and implementing the health literacy program prepared by Schools for Healthy Lifestyles at Johnson Elementary School and Horace Mann Elementary School.

The Schools for Healthy Lifestyles focus areas are physical activity and fitness, nutrition education and awareness, tobacco use prevention, safety and injury prevention, and oral health education. JLOC volunteers act as health educators and teach the health literacy program three times a month.
