YWCA Financial Literacy

ywca logoThe goal of the Financial Literacy project is to maintain ongoing financial literacy classes at the YWCA for women in their transitional living center. The YWCA assists women and children in their transitional living program to obtain personal and financial freedom to escape the cycle of domestic violence. Additionally, this project will work with the YWCA and other community partners to develop activities to serve the general community at the event hosted during Jump Start Your Money Week. Volunteers use curriculum provided (developed by JLOC) as the basis for facilitating mini-courses on the basics of a multitude of financial topics such as budgeting, applying for, using and repairing credit, managing high levels of debt, banking, and teaching money management to children to name a few.
