How to Become a Member
If you would like more information on becoming a member of the Junior League of Oklahoma City, please complete the "Become a Member" form listed in the tabs on the left and someone will be in contact with you.
The Junior League of Oklahoma City welcomes your interest in becoming a member of our 80 year-old organization. In considering membership in the Junior League, you might wonder what you can contribute to the future. Consider this: all but the ten charter members of JLOC started as provisional members. Each was simply a woman who made a commitment to this organization of her time and talents. It was through the training opportunities and the mentoring of the active and sustaining members that each of the women succeeded.
Provisionals are the lifeblood of our organization and will help strengthen and sustain it over the years. JLOC maintains its reputation for hard-working, committed volunteers by asking provisional members to meet "active" membership requirements. Your provisional year is your training for active membership. You will work our two fundraisers, Mistletoe Market and The Remarkable Shop; learn about the League's history and structure by attending provisional course meetings; practice parliamentary procedure and meeting management skills by sitting on a Junior League committee; and meet active and sustaining members of the League by attending monthly meetings. Your provisional year promises to be among the most rewarding and fun of your League career.
With over 1,300 members, many non-profit organizations in Oklahoma City are currently led by members of JLOC--Leadership Oklahoma City, Center for Non-Profit Management, Rebuilding Together, Special Care, Infant Crisis Services, Communities Foundation of Oklahoma, Oklahoma City Community Foundation and the Oklahoma City Arts Council to name a few. Outside the non-profit sector, League members are federal court judges, political appointees, successful businesswomen and well-respected community leaders. The training you gain and the connections you make will serve you well, no matter what path you take.
New provisionals are sponsored by the middle of February each year. The provisional course runs from June 1-May 31, but April and May have several necessary meetings before you begin on June 1. Below is a list of the requirements for the 2010-2011 JLOC Provisional Class.
